style journey - year 2 plus 5 months
Aug. 1st, 2023 12:25 amWow, I can't believe I didn't update this journal with the youtube video I made of my bedroom, finally completed back in March of this year (5 months ago).
I had fun making this video, after some fast and furious cleaning and decorating lol. I incorporated a bunch of ideas and concepts from my previous entry into this video and this wasn't even the final form, since I bought a bigger, prettier bookshelf to replace the flimsy Target bookcase. You have the nature cottagecore decorations and plants, fairy lights everywhere, the gallery wall of art from my favorite artists and franchises, the bright colors, and all of the beloved trinkets and curios set out instead of stuffed into boxes. Overall, I am so in love with my bedroom, it is colorful and magical and aesthetic and full of the things I love. The room is back to being a mess as usual after a few weeks, but at least the initial organization zones has helped a lot. I think continual laundry and makeup and getting knicknacks from conventions or in the mail constantly overwhelms me when it comes to staying neat and tidy. It's hard to stay on top of laundry and finding places for the onslaught of merch you keep buying to support small businesses in this capitalist hell. I will try to do it on the weekends though because umm... need that floor space to walk again.
Nothing has really changed anywhere else except for the seasonal change for my PC in my office, this time it was springtime in France with all of the beautiful flowers normally associated with France and Francis Bonnefoy from Hetalia. I included some new prints of Jeanne D'Arc and a lady at a hat shop as well as fanart and official merch of France. So far one of my favorite setups! I don't have a theme for this summer so I didn't change it back in June, lol. I guess I could have done Free and swimming again but I was debating working on that until I have a lot more inspiration and stuff to work with (like mermaids or blue flowers).
The living room finally has the acrylic art and fairy lights set on a little shelf with ivy vines framing it, but I want to replace it with a painted mural, like an arch showing the night sky behind it. I bought some paint samples but have been too lazy to practice painting my watercloset. I just think the vines are too wimpy looking, I need a lot more foliage to round it out, or just ditch it for something sleeker. I hung up a few more prints since the last update as well.
Have I cleaned or reorganized my office? No... lol. I do need to get on that and also finish cleaning the kitchen. But if there's one thing that's satisfying, it's vacuuming and then checking the container full of dust.
